Hello, Merry Christmas and I'm done.

While waiting for my Trekking xxl to come in, I finished this:
1 dickey (or Mock mock) in Maggie's Merino Aran. I love these. Perfect for 1 skein of stuff and they add that extra layer to keep my neck warm. (my own made up pattern on 16" 7's)
Then I finished up the test knit for Kristy- "Lori's Socks"
Done in Knit Picks Simple Stripes (I won from Barbara Bretton this summer) on us 1's, 2 circs.
Look at that Sherman Heel!!!
Here is another view of the pattern-
A fun pattern that is knit toe up and looks good without being boring. I heard a rumor she may make it available on her blog some time, but not real soon. Poor kid is still recovering from ankle surgery (again!) and when we last spoke on the phone, she was pretty loopy. Send those healing vibes her way.

Saturday my order came in from Simply Sock Yarn company (quick shipping) and I was able to finish Mr. Wonderful's Gentleman's Socks! wh00t!

Obvisouly they are a bit big for me... but you get the ideaI lovelovelove this pattern! Even though I ran out of Trekking, it was worth it. They really are manley socks. The sitch pattern is so clever without being crazy or boring. I was even able to knit on them while the Mayor had karate. So be warned if you make a man's size 9 sock, you will need a little extra! (I already have plans for the rest of this color 90 Trekking)

That's it! I'm all ready for Santa and now I'm knitting on Alpaca Sox for ME! Oh I did a bit of spinning too, but I'll save those pics for later.

Have a Very Merry Christmas everyone!

Potty Mouth

I would have finished Mr Wonderful's Gentleman socks yesterday except for this: That disturbance in the Force was my scream of anguish and frustration. 7 pattern repeats (4 rows each) and toe decreases left and I run out of sock yarn!!!!! WTF? Its Trekking XXL- I thought those balls just went on forever? Its not even like I can rip out the first toe and just do in a different color.... there still would not be enough. I've seen this sock done on Ravelry and not one mention of needing extra yarn. Its only a Men's size 9 with a 8 inch cuff... nothing crazy. And my tails are not excessive either... So I repeat WTF?
Balls!
I've found the colorway on line and ordered a second ball... I figure there should be enough to make him another pair of socks (in a different pattern) or a couple of pairs of socks for The Mayor.
I'm sooooo P.O'd I really like this pattern! I just can't imagine that it took all that extra yarn.
aarruugghh.
In spinning news..... here is my "Grinch" yarn. 243 yards of3 ply DK weight Falkland wool.

I have no idea what I'll make with this, but it sure was fun spinning!

Too much Wuh-hoo'ing

I got the best ever gift in the mail.... can you see? 3- that's 3 count' em skeins of Classic Elite Yarns Alpaca Sox !!! in a cute basket!!
Can you say Whu-hoo?
So why the title? Well when I saw the gift, I started the whu-hoo'ing (knitter Carol was here as witness) I swung the basket over my head in some kind of wacked out version of a Country Line dance vs Electric slide and pulled a muscle in my neck. Doh.
I got the muscle rub out and the heat pack- then started rearranging the yumminess as I tried to figure current WIPS and how soon I can cast on for ME and what pattern to use. I'm thinking toe-ups in Kristy's new pattern (I think she will make available soon). That way I can use every last inch of ohsolovley Alpaca!
M4 is the best friend EVER! She and the Long Island Cats are the best family anyone could ever wish to have. Luv You!

In spinning news...
I just finished up spinning "Grinch"
4 oz of Falkland dyed by Amy at Spunky Electic!

I just finished Navajo plying and got 243 yards of DK weight yarn. More pics when we get some daylight!

Off to fondle yarn... can you say Wuh-hoo? (and maybe nee-ner, nee-ner too)

Award.Prize.Share.

Award

Noolie (who has been recently upgraded to Nonni) has awarded me a prize! She thinks I'm nice! (shut up. you know who you are.) It really made me feel good that someone who knows me via internet and email thinks I'm nice. So in the spirit of niceness I'm nominating 7 more people who I think are nice:

Charity

Amanda

SunflowerFairy

Nicole

and my best friend M4 (who still will not blog even though I nag)

Now each of you can go and nominate 7 people who you thinkg are "Nice". Oh and I'm not emailing my nice people, I want them to read this and be suprised!

Prize
I also won a prize in Noolie's "Guess the baby's birth day and weight" contest. While I was totally off on both date and weight, I did win the random drawing and recived this lovleyness:

2 skeins of Cherry Tree Hill cotton! In the yummiest purple you have ever seen. I'm thinking a cotton wrap for the summer? yes? We will see...

Share

In the spirit of niceness and prize winning I want to participate in the Pay It Foward exchange. (also via Noolie's blog. hey! I should have titles this post "because of Noolie")Its not a swap. Its like this:

The idea of the exchange is I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on this blog post requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet, and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog - this means you must have a blog, sorry blogless readers. (I'm changing the last part so blogless readers CAN participate but must still leave me comment and play by the rules)

Gonna be fun! So come-on and leave me a comment- you all know what kick ass stuff I make! lol

All knitting has stopped.....

On Saturday after a long week of email and phone calls, I got a spinning wheel!!!!! An Ashford Traditional to be exact!

Here she is as soon as I got home and did a bit of spinning (with supervision)
Then I cleaned her up and gave her a good wood conditioning. Looks so pretty!

Since then I have not knit a stitch (well, actually I knit a little at the pre-work meeting yesterday).
I spun up these 3 skeins-
Spun and plied what is on the bobbin here (pic later)
And have been having the BEST TIME getting to know my new friend.
Of course its not all sunshine and roses....

but we are getting along great!

You know its bad when you get annoied at the other household members for things like Dinner and Bedtime, since they interrupt your spinning groove.

Today I really really need to get the Christmas decorations up and the house straightened for playgroup this afternoon.... then its back to spinning!

I'll post again soon... I won an award AND a prize! plus I'm going to participate in PIF so if you were planning on PIF'ing too, wait for my post! In the meantime, go on over to Noolie's and congratulate her on the birth of grandaughter Clover.
