FO's & more

I did a dog sweater. Seriously. Well, its not really a dog, its a chihuahua . Here is Peppy. He belongs to Cookie and her mom (I babysat Cookie lots in the spring)

Peppy is only a few months old and he needed a sweater that would fit. I used Howie's Knit to Fit Dog Sweater (Rav) (non rav) and some Encore Worsted with size 7 needles. Basically its OK.. the math formulas were off so I fudged it. I will do it again and will change it to knit in the round and fix the sleeves so they don't pull. But hey, its cute no matter!

I finished AND blocked my Hemlock Ring Blanket(Rav) (non Rav).62 inches across and 2 skeins of Cascade Eco Wool. Still a big hunk left too
This was such an awesome easy knit... and it would have been done is less than a week if I tried. As it was, it only took 2 weeks of very leisurely knitting.

My dishrag tag team came in 3rd place!

Actually it was a tie, but placement depends on what order the mailman puts the packages in the mailbox. I had such a great team. Everyone was on board and posted lots of encouragement on the DRT forum. Lots of fun and I'll prolly do it again next year.

Last up today is Flat Stanley.Currently he has reservations to go to Long Island NY and see M4 & the cats. Is anyone else interested in hosting Flat Stanley? Basically I ship him off to you, you take some photos of Stanley doing activities in your area (museums, historical landmarks, anything interesting) and you ship him back. As an added incentive (and good manners) he comes with a hostess gift!! lol The Mayor and his first grade class will be thrilled. Any takers?

Passing the box along....

The Dishrag Tag box came this morning.I quickly dumped the box of contents, reloaded it with yarn and goodies, ignored everything for the next 2 hours as I knit my dishcloth....
and just got back from the post office where its on its way to the Libby in VA. whew, my hands are tired!

I'm IT. Dishrag Tag began on 8/1. The Box went from Emily-LA , to Kat – SC, to Nicole – TN to Me (PA).

We went to Dutch Wonderland yesterday and had a blast even though it rained- lots (the rides only close if there is lighting and thunder) so of course the box arrived yesterday! I was not expecting it until today.

Lookit Nicole sent me!An awesome pinwheel dishcloth, 2 skeins of cotton (one is missing because I used it to knit Becca's cloth per the rules) and an Orange Chibi! Excellent choices Nicole! I really needed the Chibi for my new travel knit gadget bag.

Dish Rag Tag update

My team is Going the Dish-tance! (team #1)
I put a widget on the side so everyone can see all the teams + international.

So far the box has gone from Emily (Yarnmiracle and organizer extraordinaire) to our Captain Kat and I just saw that it has gone out Nicole. I'm next! Hopefully by mid week I can report back that I have the box.

Dishrag Queen

Emily (the mastermind behind Dishrag Tag) wants to see how many dishrags are in the house! The one with the most gets crowned Dishrag Queen (or King). Now mind you I just gave a bunch to my mom, but here is my stack currently in use:
22 Dishcloths and 4 Tribbles .
(2 tribbles are ready for the wash and one cloth is still wet! but I tried to dig them all up... in fact I may have one or 2 more hiding) These are all the ones I use at home, there are many more that have been gifted!

Speaking of DishRag Tag, I'm training for my "leg" of the event. The pattern I'm thinking of using is the Knitted Round Lacy Cloth . I timed myself last night and it takes me 9 minutes and 50 seconds to do one wedge... there are 9 wedges, plus sewing up and weaving in , the occasional distraction, so I figure I can get one done in less than 2 hrs! That means I can have a 24 hr turn around from when I receive my box, providing the mail comes at its usual 12pm and is not recieved on Saturday. Not too shabby.... now to get the rest of my package ready and I'm good to go!

Its been GOD AWEFUL humid the last couple of days and worse at swim lessons. BUT I did manage to finish up the "Socks of Love" and will post pics as soon as The Mr. gets home at a reasonable time (meaning there is decent light to take pictures of black 1x1 ribbed socks).

OTN: a Bainbridge scarf for JEN and maybe some Monkey socks with the yarn Trish sent for my b-day. Oh and Kristy and I (plus maybe Charity) are doing our own little KAL for toe-up socks from the Summer Interweave- starting soon.

I got my team assignment for Dish Rag Tag! I'm on team #1 Whoot! (we need a new name)
Anybody have a good name for our team? (prizes for the best name!)

Anyway, my time is being spent surfing my teammates blogs and catching up on email. I finally finished the first Sock of Love (black 1x1 ribbing dress sock for The Mr) and cast on the second. Also now that I have A NEW CAR, the Mayor and I have been running around catching up on stuff and of course swim lessons- daily. Yes once a day every day for 2 weeks, its a great program run by a local university. The only problem is that the pool in indoors and is LIKE A SAUNA. I've come home each afternoon completely wiped out. It took me almost all week to realize, "hey, I've been sitting in a sauna for an hour, maybe that's why I'm tired". Duh.

I have 2 other knit projects that are gifts, so will not be posted (till after). I did get to visit with Scooter this week! I'll post later how that went....
