Aran Braid Socks

Finished! These were travel/karate knitting so they took a bit longer, but they were worth the wait!

The toe is rounded on this pattern. Love how they fit!
(I really do have an arch on my left foot, just not sure where it went for this picture)
TaDa!
Aran Braid Socks- Pattern from Knit Picks. Knit with Knit Picks Bare on 2 Knit Picks 16" 1's

The pattern is a nice reversible cable that is easy to memorize. I only do 5" cuffs and have small feet so there may be enough left over for another pair! If I had been thinking (right!) I would have made the cuff longer to take advantage of the reversible pattern. Maybe next time!

Saturday Sky

Nice & overcast but it didn't rain today! It was cool enough with the breeze to need a jacket but I still got sunburn! Of course I was outside for many hours today with Gunnar & obedience then Gunnar & sniffer class. Lots of fun, but I'm pooped!

April Mid Month Dishcloth KAL

April Mid Month KAL, Diamond Drop Lace dishcloth by Knitwits Heaven. Knit in Sugar & Cream, Potpourri Ombre on Knit Picks 7's.

I actually did a dishcloth this month, instead of my squares! When I saw the pattern had a P2tog tbl, I figured I'd take it easy on myself. I'll put it in the gift box since I cannot squish another dishcloth into my kitchen drawer. (I need a bigger kitchen)

I've been up to the shop to help Laura a couple of times since the announcement. There was some stuff I could not let anyone else have (go figure). I'll have to show you later.

The Last of the Shop Projects

Here is my last project for the shop.... sigh. Check out this yarn! Its K1C2 Meringue. 60%Merino, 25%Viscose, 15% Polymide. It looks like ribbon, feels like ribbon, but has wool! I did the Fiber Trends Basic Tank- and only used 4 skeins for the small size (36") It looks so much better on one of the ladies! See the drape? The edge is a backward single crochet, so it has a nice little scallop
I took this up Saturday (first day I had a car back) and I think it helped sell most of this yarn! The tank itself is also on sale too... since she's closing and all, but anyway.

I've lost my knitting go-go. I just have no sense of urgency. I guess its a good thing now I can sit back and relax, but I did like my deadlines. Now I have to re-evaluate my knit to-do. Hey Maybe I'll even get back to my knitted curtains plan.....

At least Maryland Sheep & Wool is coming up soon! I'm asking for $$ for Mother's Day and my birthday (early) so I can indulge in some retail therapy to get me outa this funk. Who else is going?

*** updated 4/25 I just got an email from the Knit Boss telling me someone bought 43 yes, fourty three skeins of the Meringue because she liked the tank! Plus the tank pattern! How cool is that?

I'm so sad...

"Note from Laura

Since we opened, The Technicolor Sheep has endeavored to bring knitting into the lives of as many people as we could. We've happily watched both new and experienced knitters grow and enjoy the many benefits knitting offers. However, after nearly 5 years in business, we have decided to close our doors. Our last day in business will be Saturday, May 19.

This decision was a difficult one, most especially because it means no longer seeing so many of the friends we've made over the years on a regular basis. I truly hope that we were able to succeed in making knitting a permanent part of your lives and that you continue to knit for many years to come.

All of our remaining merchandise will be on sale; you can see details on that and additional information about our closing below. Best wishes to all of you who have been so kind and supportive over the years. I'll leave you with one last piece of knitting advice, which I hope will stay with you forever (some of you have heard me say this before): To avoid disappointment in your knitting, always knit a gauge swatch!

~ Laura"

I'm so very sad, for Laura and myself and Irma. No more sitting at the round table making plans, knitting and telling stories. Its ironic that I just posted about the flavor of my LYS this week and now its closing. I don't know what else to say.

What Flavor is my LYS?

Dianna over at A Sheep In Wools Clothing wants to know the flavor of my LYS. (I found this via Noolie. Thanks Noolie!)

Technicolor Sheep moved to new spacious digs in Havertown PA last May. (just around the corner from the previous location)
When you walk in the front door, this is what you see...

Directly in front, left, then right... yarn, yarn and some more yarn! The shop is roomy, open and cozy at the same time. Laura (owner and Knit Boss) makes the atmosphere very welcoming with a sitting area as well as a large round table to sit & knit or just chat. (and where I usually dump my bags when I arrive!)

Laura is very knowledgeable and always willing to help with those pesky knit problems.
She has a nice selection of wools (Lamb's Pride, Cascade 220) and well as silk, cashmere and cottons. Plus some speciality hand spun/hand dyed yarns.

To the left there is a HUGE assortment of buttons and a bookcase full of patterns for just about everything. Plus a spin rack of the latest magazines!

In the back, there are baby yarns, patterns AND A PLAY AREA for the tykes! (The Mayor LOVES this feature)

Technicolor Sheep is really a great place to shop or just sit & knit. Stop by and tell Laura I sent you!

*** PS there is even a downstairs area with large tables and good lighting for all sorts of classes****

There are buds on my Cherry Tree! I love when this blooms and the flowers blanket the lawn like a snow drift. Its a bit overcast again today (but sunny earlier) and we are getting ready for a 'Nor Easter

In other news, here is a small part of where I spent my day. 6+ hrs. Whew! The yard needed it BAD. Now it looks nice and green and kept. At least for today!

Have a great weekend!

In my free time, I like to assemble furniture

The Mr. has a thing for furniture. He loves to go through the Home Decorators catalogue and look for sales. This is the latest ..... A Craftsman Shoe Storage cabinet. Holds 24 pair of shoes. Yup.
Took me 1.5 hrs to get this puppy together today. Just one of the jobs I get paid big bucks to do.
And I'd like to thank Tomboy Tools for their help today. I lovelovelove my Tomboy Tools (bday gift 2 yrs ago from The Mr. and Mom - Thanks!)
Of course there are ALWAYS a few pieces left over.....
Last is the easiest - the lamp. I don't even know where we are going to put this... At least the box is out of the office !

I just have the Mayor's 2 wheel bike to put together and........um, I don't think I'm going to do that today. (maybe I should - the car needs a new water pump$$$ - we could ride bikes to school) Gah!

No new knitting to show, but soon! Have a great day!

A Few More Things

Here is a cotton teething bunny I made for the Mr.'s friend who recently had a baby (sent along with booties and 2 outfits) I think my faces are getting better. At least she's not angry! I did a quickie knit scarf (aka garter stitch) for the shop last week too. This is Noro Sumile, a cotton, silk, nylon chenille yarn. We have a bit left and people are always asking what it looks like knit up. It actually came out to a nice length for one skein- 5" x 40" ! I did a swatch with a cotton yarn and one of those carry along thread too, but whiffed on talking any pictures.

And here is the square I sent Noolie for her friend Betty (she is putting them together for a blanket) Its a Kisses & Hugs cable square! Cool, heh?

So, today will be day 100 of my picture a day project. Its fun looking back to the beginning of the year. I was not sure when I started this project if I would even get this far. Life intrudes, you know? But here I am! Are you tired of seeing Gunnar and the Mayor? Anyone besides my mom look at these pictures? (Hi Mom!)

I'm still working on the knitted ripple and a simple tank (another shop model). Soon I'll have to start the Princess's birthday gift and maybe get some other projects cleaned off my (ever growing) list.

Stay warm!
