Catching up

Why is it that I'm busier now than when The Mayor was in school? We have been running every day for almost 2 weeks now. I cannot wait till camp starts next week. In the meantime... I'm knitting away on thingies and gifts. Here are 3 thingies all knit from ONE ball of Sugar & Cream. 2 Knit Dish Cloth Dresses and one Tribble. I can usually get one dishcloth and one Tribble from a ball of cotton. (good to know)
Plus a Bunny for Little Cat D.
See? No angry bunny here!
I would like to do a larger bunny some day... so much knitting, so little time.

Why did the last paragraph of my post cut off?? Oh well, I'll tell you about the mitered square cotton rug later...

Gifts From Afar

I recieved a package in the mail this week with a gift for myself and one for Knit Boss from Kristy! Check out this envelope she MADE....

and inside.... jewlery that she MADE. Herself. How cool is that?
I've been wearing them every day since I opened the envlope but do you think I'd ask someone to take my picture? duh.
The bracelet and earrings are the most sparkley crystals in yellow and peach. I was/am completely blown away by her creativity and generosity. The Mayor declared them "Fancy" and The Mr. was very impressed with the envelope (not so much into the sparkles is he).And check this out... she knew Knit Boss needed a little pick-me-up with the store closing and all so she made this cool set, bracelet, earrings and necklace. (also in a way cool envleope that I failed to get a picture of).
I feel lucky and blessed to have made such a clever, generous, creative, beautiful friend on the internet. Kristy, thanks again for everything! You made our week!

Question

I have a bunch of store samples, ie sweaters, hats and scarves from the shop. We are thinking of selling them on Ebay. Is anyone interested in seeing the stuff here first, maybe buy some? (we would do paypal and actual shipping)

Let me know and I'll start posting soon.....

And since blog posts with no pics are BORING....
here is another Beanie Baby Sleeping Bag for the littlest sheep. Now she does not get lost in the bed at night.

May Mid-Month KAL

I finished up the May Mid-Month Dishcloth KAL last night..... Done in Sugar & Cream color Gumdrop on Knit Picks 7's. I added a loop at the top for easy hanging. This will go into the "just in case" box.

I did a dishcloth this month instead of a spare square since they are overflowing the tote!
I hope to start assembling the spare square blankets this week! I need to steam block a few of the squares first and match them all up. If I'm really good, I'll have some to take to the hospital in June. What do you think?

Have a great day!

Beanie Baby Sleeping Bag & Spinning

Just so you don't think I've fallen off the face of the world, a quick post.

I've been mostly spinning this week....

The pink/blue/white is 85 yards worsted thick'n' thin spun. This was roving that Amanda dyed for me in her dishwasher! (drop her a note and she might do some for you!) The maroon is 38 yards fingering/sport again from Amanda . She sells her stuff on Etsy ! Go look! Green & purple is about 16 yds worsted and 40 yds fingering from MDSW batt. The *Party in a Bag* purple/blue/glitter from MDSW. Spun and gifted to Scooter. I never even made note of the yardage Bad Blogger.

A knitted FO for Little Cat D-
And this is so cute the Mayor wants on for one of his toys.... a Beanie Baby sleeping bag! Its a free pattern. Super easy, super cute and a great way to try double knitting if you have not before. Its late so I'll find the links and update later... (its later and I've updated.....)
Tomorrow is the last day of busines at the shop. *snif* Next week I'll be helping out with power tools taking down shelves and things.

Tagged!

Trish tagged me!

Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog. Here are my facts:

1. 2 years ago I donated 11 inches of my hair to Locks of Love. I have not had a haricut since (DIY bangs do not count)
2. 3 years ago I had Lazer eye surgery done. I LOVELOVELOVE it. I now have better than 20/20 vision.
3. My superpower is being able to read directions. This is how I learned to spin. Amanda wanted to spin so handed me the book to teach her! (she now has a wheel and is an awesome spinner OH and she sells batts in her Etsy shop. Fun stuff!)
4. Like Trish, I love to read but have been consumed by the wool. I will read SciFi-Fantasy and Romance (especially historical romance) when I have the chance
5. I used to be thin. Then I met The Mr and was cooking lots. Never trust a skinny cook.
6. My house sits on 1 acre, mostly grass. It takes me 2.5- 3 hrs to mow. I hate the weed wacker- it hurts my hands. (does that count as 2 things?)
7. My kitchen has little storage and no counter space. This makes me crazy since I like to cook. I'm hoping a kitchen upgrade is in the 5 yr plan.'

Ok, that looks pretty random. How about I tag:
1. Amanda
2. Kristy
3. Noolie
4. Mindy
5. M4 (blogless but I will post her answers if she wants to play)
6. JEN (also blogless, but if she wants to play...)
7. #1 SIL (um, blogless- but should start one because I said)

Also if you weren't tagged but would like to play, feel free to snag the rules and post on your blog

Sorry for the tagging the blogless ones, but hey! Pressure to start their own blog!

Da Loot

I went to MDSW and got:

Not one but TWO Golding Ring Spindles! The larger is as Celtic Ring, 3" cherry and walnut, 1.9 oz. The funky looking smaller is an Aromatherapy spindle, 2" cherry and walnut, .95 oz. There is a small cup st the top of the aromatherapy spindle and you take a bit of cotton, put a drop of lavender oil (or whatever) and put the cotton in the cup. The fan blades waft the calming scent up as you spin. I love them both and have been spinning madly since Saturday!

Something called * Party in a Bag* from Pucker Brush Farm- they had baskets of this wonderful stuff that you stuffed into a bag for like $34 a pound. Amanda and I split a bag. I started spinning this on my Ashford spindle. Fun!

The lovely wooden nostepinne came from Mr Bill Hardy of Turnstyles. I've been wanting one of these for a while and cannot wait to practice winding different shape yarn balls Um, it gets a little crazy here - the paper bag has a felting kit for shoe inserts (one of the few "what was I thinking" purchase) to the right of that is a face spritzer of lavender water. The 2 balls of fiber were another thing I split with Amanda. Merino from Brush Creek Farm - Rocky Coast colorway. She made me crazy with this- we passed it about 1/2 dozen times and she kept talking about it. Me- "Wanna go halvzies?" Her- "Noooo, its too much. You don't have to". Rinse & Repeat 5xs. She finally caved to my pressure, muh-haha!

Below the bag is a little container of cuticle rub and a tub of pure Shea Butter from RJ Caulder @ Breezy Willow Farm ( I'm a lotion addict) and the white stuff is BAMBOO fiber from Shadeyside Farm. To the left of the bamboo is a GRAFTON BATT and I cannot remember the vendor where I purchased this. I'm pretty psyched to spin this.

The bottom row is more of the Party in a Bag in greens, a green & purple batt (just because it was pretty and looked like a muppet) and 4oz of Merino in Primrose from the Drafting Zone (I hoping to spin this into a lace weight for the Forest Canopy Shoulder Shawl. Maybe using my aromatherapy spindle- muh-haha

And finally - yarn from Tess' ! SCORE! whoot! Even early in the day, this outside booth was crowded! 30 mins in line just to pay! (and shop more) I got 4 skeins of sock yarn and 2 lace. Really nice yarns in super colors. I'm not a pink person, but pink and gray??!! Can you say 80's? It about leapt into my arms!
What a really great day. I can't wait to go again next year and check out spinning wheels!

Oh and next year remind me to take better notes. I have receipts and scribbles all over and have no idea what most of it means.

I'd like to take a minute here and thank my Mom and The Mr who gave me cash (Mother's Day, birthday and Christmas 07 !!) so I could go and loose my mind to the wool. I'm a lucky girl to have family that supports (but not always understands) me. ThankYouMomandMr. !LoveYouSoMuch!

Hands

I'm interupting my recap of MDSW to show Kristy my hands.... Knitting (Tulip skirt in Bernat Pink Camo for the Princess)
Spinning on my NEW GOLDING CELTIC SPINDLE! I lovelovelove this spindle. The wool is from Amanda and is spinning up sweet! I'm hoping to get a fingering weight for socks. My spinning is still pretty inconsistant, but between the new spindle and the excellent wool I may pull this off!
A, I'll need some more of this, PLEASE! (did you know she sells batts on Etsy? Yummy stuff!)

Saturday Sky

Good Morning! This is 6:30 am heading south on I95 to Maryland Sheep and Wool. Note that the MOON is still out. And because it was a special event day, a 2nd Saturday sky shot.....
A cold front came in and brought lots of clouds and a chilly breeze. Obviously this did not stop our fun as exibited by Amanda in the lower left corner! We were heading to the car to drop off some purchases and the clouds, parking lot with MANYMANY cars and a woman intoxicated by wool fumes made an excellent pic.
